Back-to-School DIY: Cardboard Photo Frame Sign 🎒

✏️We’re making a Back-to-School photo prop sign with cardboard and paint using @applebarrelcrafts from Plaidcraft . Celebrate the first day of school with a fun and creative project made from something you probably already have at home—a cardboard box!

Instead of tossing that box in the recycling bin, turn it into a colorful Back-to-School photo frame sign that kids can help create and decorate. It’s an easy project that lets them get creative while making a special keepsake for those first-day-of-school pictures.

📦 What You’ll Need

  • A cardboard box or large piece of cardboard

  • Scissors or a craft knife (adult help recommended)

  • Pencil and ruler

  • Paint and paintbrushes

  • Extra cardboard for decorations around the frame

  • Glue

  • Markers, crayons, or other favorite craft supplies

✂️ Step 1: Create Your Frame

Start with a cardboard box and carefully cut out the inside, leaving a border around the edges to create your frame.

🎨 Step 2: Paint & Decorate

Now comes the fun part! Paint your cardboard frame in bright, school-inspired colors.

While the frame dries, have the kids create their own hand-painted cutouts to decorate around the edges. Think pencils, apples, backpacks, stars, books, school buses, or even their favorite classroom supplies.

There’s no right or wrong way to decorate it—let their imagination lead the way!

📸 Step 3: Say “Cheese!”

Once everything is dry, it’s time for the first-day photo!

Hold the cardboard frame around your child and capture that special Back-to-School moment. You can even add their name, grade, teacher, or the school year to make the photo extra special.

💛 A Fun Project for Kids

This is more than just a photo prop—it’s a chance for kids to create, paint, reuse, and celebrate the start of a new school year. So grab that cardboard box, gather some paint, and make something fun together!

Happy School Year! 🎒✨
