Creating Graduation Magic with Adobe Express (From Someone Who Actually Uses It)
Graduation season has a way of sneaking up on you. One minute it’s midterms, and the next, you’re staring down finals, end-of-year wrap-ups, and a long checklist of things that somehow all need to be done at once. For students, it’s the stress of finishing on time. For those of us behind the scenes, it’s organizing everything that makes graduation feel like a real milestone (that's my job!)
This is where my creative process kicks in—and honestly, where Adobe Express becomes less of a tool and more of a lifeline. I’m an Adobe Express ambassador, but more importantly, I’m someone who genuinely relies on it. Especially during this time of year, when I’m creating materials that help shape the atmosphere of an entire department’s graduation experience.
Adobe Express includes built-in stock photos, so you don’t have to ask everyone for images—although that can be a fun option! You can easily search for things like babies or graduation caps, remove the background, and customize your design in just a few clicks. These quick features make it super simple to create polished graphics.
Designing the Graduation Experience
When you’re planning a graduation, it’s not just about the ceremony itself. It’s about the feeling. The environment. The little details that make students pause and realize, “Wow, I made it.”
That’s where thoughtful design comes in.
I spend a lot of time creating:
Printed cards to remind and encourage students
Graduation cap decorations that let personalities shine
Backdrops for photos that people will keep forever
Photo props that bring energy and fun into the moment
These aren’t just decorations—they’re memory-makers. And having everything organized ahead of time makes a huge difference. It might feel early to start thinking about graduation, but when you’re managing an entire department’s event, early planning is the only way it all comes together smoothly.
Adobe Express offers many pre-made templates that make it easy to create cards and print instantly. These ready-to-use designs allow you to quickly customize the text and colors, then download your file with just a few clicks. You can print at home or send your design to a local print shop or services like Zazzle. All from an app on my phone!
A Personal Connection
Last year, this season hit differently for me—I was graduating too. While I was helping plan the event, I was also experiencing everything alongside the students. That changed how I approached my work. It became more personal, more intentional. I also leaned into something I love: digital scrapbooking. I used Adobe Express to create my own scrapbook pages. I designed layouts, added photos, layered memories—all in a way that felt authentic to me. It turned into something I’ll keep forever, not just as a record of graduation, but as a reflection of everything that led up to it.
